Unlike myself, Chris is a proper chemist. He enlightens me about the chemistry involved in waste treatment and the physical laws that make it so difficult to separate different substances from one another. One of the most concerning issues on our planet, how to deal with all the garbage, ultimately comes down to entropy, and why it is energetically so expensive to separate all those chemicals in our waste. Ultimately, we discuss if there are alternatives to the loads of plasticware that we biochemists are going through on a daily basis.
